Kudos to Stephens County Schools Transportation Director Beth McDonald!
October 19-23 is Georgia School Bus Safety Week. The national theme for School Bus Safety Week is “Avoid Harm, Obey the Arm”. This theme stresses the need for other motoring public to obey the rules of the road and for students to follow safety rules.
According to Stephens County Schools Transportation Director Beth McDonald, accidents involving school busses can happen quickly, but proper training can help keep an incident from becoming a tragedy.
Today is Georgia School Bus Driver Appreciation Day and McDonald says that the fifty-eight bus drivers and ten monitors in Stephens County are not only caring, but they are aware of the awesome responsibility they have.
On any given day, more than 4,322 students ride the school bus in Stephens County. Safety training will take place in classrooms all week according to McDonald.
