First Presbyterian Church of Toccoa sees itself as:
“The Downtown Church without a steeple, filled with lots of friendly people!”
It is a statement that we believe to be true, and one often affirmed by our visitors. But we believe that First Church has so much more than friendliness to offer. Our understanding of the Holy Scriptures leads us to believing that God sent the Son into the world “not to condemn the world, but that through Christ, the world might be saved.” In so believing, we understand the gift of Jesus Christ as a blessing to humanity. We don’t believe God sent the son out of anger, or as judgement, but to be a living example of God’s love, a paradigm of the life God intended us to live. God sent the son that we might grow to understand first and foremost, that “God is love.” God sent the son to convey to us the hope, and purpose God has for our lives. God sent the son that we might have life, and that our lives might be abundant, and God sent the son that we might know the power of God’s forgiveness. It truly is “Good News.”
We hope you will come and visit with us-----to feel the warm fellowship of the people of God in this place. May God richly bless you in your life’s journey.
